Status as of Monday, October 12, 2026. Hours and conditions are changing daily.
At 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 11, Friends 30A Burger Bar opened its doors in Inlet Beach and posted hours of 11 to 9. That was about 38 hours after Hurricane Isaias came ashore near Destin as a Category 2 storm, around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, October 9. Amici 30A Italian Kitchen and Amigos 30A Mexican Kitchen, a few doors apart at 30Avenue, reopened the same day.
A few hundred yards south, the Gulf is still closed to swimmers. Deer Lake State Park is on the state's closure list. No one has confirmed that Camp Helen State Park has reopened. In Inlet Beach right now, the restaurants are running ahead of everything else, and the next several weeks of the calendar follow the same pattern.
The Kitchens Came Back First
Over the weekend, a 30A recovery tracker listed businesses only after each one posted its own reopening notice, mostly on Instagram. By Sunday, the east end of 30A made up a large share of that list.
| Where | Business | What it posted |
|---|---|---|
| Inlet Beach, 30Avenue | Amici 30A Italian Kitchen | Reopened Sunday, Oct. 11 |
| Inlet Beach, 30Avenue | Amigos 30A Mexican Kitchen | Reopened Sunday, Oct. 11 |
| Inlet Beach | Friends 30A Burger Bar | Reopened Sunday, Oct. 11, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. |
| Inlet Beach | Shades Bar & Grill | Reopened over the weekend |
| Rosemary Beach | Gallion's | Reopened Sunday at 5 p.m., full service |
| Alys Beach | Beach and Brew on 30A | Reopened Saturday, Oct. 10 |
| Alys Beach | George's at Alys Beach | Reopened Sunday, Oct. 11 |
| Alys Beach | The Citizen | Reopened Sunday, Oct. 11 |
| Alys Beach | Raw & Juicy | Reopened Sunday, Oct. 11, limited menu |
That is nine kitchens between Inlet Beach and Alys Beach, all serving before the county had announced anything about re-entry. Several said up front that they were running short menus or carryout. Others went straight to full service. Check a restaurant's own social posts before you head out, because a reopening one day does not guarantee the same hours the next.
Two Inlet Beach regulars are still missing from the list. Cuvee 30A has not posted a reopening anywhere the research turned up. No Inlet Beach coffee shop or grocery store showed up either. The only grocery stores confirmed open were the Publix at South Walton and the Walmart at Dune Lakes, both in Santa Rosa Beach.
The Gulf Is Still Closed, Flag or No Flag
The restaurants can reopen as soon as they have power and staff. The beach has to wait for an assessment. In an update reported by WJHG, Walton County said beach crews were working through 26 miles of shoreline. Double-red flags mean the water is closed to the public, and lifeguard towers will stay off the sand for now.
The same update adds a caution that matters more on a walk than any flag color. Some flagpoles and boardwalks were damaged, so some accesses may have no flag at all, and the county was clear that no flag does not mean the water is safe. It also warned about dangerous surf, rip currents and debris on the beach. As of Sunday's local status, the beaches were listed as water closed under double red.
The beach itself also looks different. WJHG reported that surge carried sand off the beach and over the dunes in Grayton. One local told the station the sand had been "all the way up to the boardwalk and now it's gone, you can walk right under it." Locals in that report said they expect the dunes to build back with time, sea oats and sand fencing. No published status names the Inlet Beach Regional Beach Access or its parking lot specifically, so the county's general guidance is the best information available.
The Parks Are Further Behind Than the Beach
If the beach is closed, the usual Inlet Beach fallback is a walk at Camp Helen or a ride west toward Deer Lake. Neither is confirmed open.
- Deer Lake State Park is on the Florida State Parks storm closure list, effective October 11, along with Grayton Beach, Topsail Hill Preserve, Eden Gardens and Shoal River Headwaters in Walton County. No reopening time is given.
- Camp Helen State Park was on the list of parks WJHG reported as closed ahead of the storm. It is not on the October 11 closure list, but the park's own page gives only its normal hours of 8 a.m. to sunset and nothing about post-storm status. Until the park posts an all-clear, treat it as unconfirmed.
- The Timpoochee Trail's east end, including the stretch near Deer Lake that we wrote about recently, has no published post-storm status.
So a typical Inlet Beach day without the beach, which usually means the park or the trail, is also on hold this week. That leaves 30Avenue and the restaurants on 30A as the parts of the neighborhood that are fully back.
The Fall Calendar Is Split Down the Same Line
The events closest to the storm were affected first. Events further out are still listed, but most have not been reconfirmed since Friday.
| Date | Event | Where | Status as of Oct. 12 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tue., Oct. 13, 5:30 p.m. | Riverain Wine Dinner | Cuvee 30A | Postponed due to the hurricane; no new date posted |
| Fri., Oct. 16, 6 to 9 p.m. | Mark Payne live music | 30Avenue, 12805 US-98 E | Still listed; not reconfirmed since the storm |
| Fri., Nov. 13, 5:30 p.m. | Dakota Shy Wine Dinner, five courses | Cuvee 30A | Still listed; reservations "Coming Soon" |
| Mon., Nov. 30, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. | Winter Wonderland, star lighting at 5 p.m. | 30Avenue | Listed on a regional event calendar; not confirmed by 30Avenue |
Cuvee 30A updated the Riverain dinner page on October 8, the day before landfall, to say the five-course pairing with Dean Gray's Riverain Vineyards wines was postponed. Tickets had been $195 per person with tax and gratuity included. The November Dakota Shy dinner page has not changed and still shows reservations as coming soon.
This Friday's Mark Payne set at 30Avenue is still on the 30A.com events calendar. When the research was gathered, 30Avenue's own calendar page showed Monday's date but no event schedule, and its news page had no storm announcement. With Amici and Amigos already serving at the center, Friday night music there is plausible, but 30Avenue is the only source that can confirm it.
The Practical Layer Under All of It
Most of the gap between an open restaurant and an open neighborhood comes down to utilities and debris.
Power. On Saturday afternoon, CHELCO reported 49,314 outages in Walton County, or 93% of its members there. By the time of WJHG's October 12 report, more than half had power again, and CHELCO's CEO expected restoration to be finished by Tuesday at the latest. Those are countywide figures. No published count breaks out Inlet Beach by street.
Water. Walton County asked South Walton water customers south of the Bay to conserve water until power is restored. It also warned of limited cell and internet service.
Roads and debris. As of Sunday, major roads and bridges were open, but trees and debris remained, along with a warning about downed trees and live power lines. WJHG reported that Walton County deputies are helping utility crews keep traffic moving, so expect work zones along the corridor. Walton County has also issued a public notice on debris removal that explains how to separate storm debris at the curb.
Evacuation status. The mandatory evacuation for Zones A, B and C took effect at noon on October 8. As of the latest status available on October 11, the county had not announced a formal lift or re-entry phase. Walton County's own channels are where that announcement will come from.
Here is how the week looks for now. Amici, Amigos, Friends 30A and Shades are serving. The Gulf is under double red. Deer Lake is closed. Camp Helen and Friday's music at 30Avenue are waiting on confirmation. CHELCO expects power to be fully restored by Tuesday.
